22 things I learned in 22 years

Hi there, I am so happy to be back on the blog just one month following my 23-birthday (that I got to spend in New Zealand) to share with you 22 things I learned in 22 years. I made a similar post one last year for my 22-birthday and I loved this self-reflexion exercice. So here we go with my reflexions from this year:

  • You know nothing but it’s okay to believe in something: there are hundreds of theories on what’s the healthiest lifestyle, the best education, not even talking religious wise. Even if you acknowledge the truth might not be the same for everyone, it’s okay to have convictions but always keep an open-mind and be tolerant.
  • It’s my responsibility to create my own happiness. I know what makes me happy so let’s add this moments in my daily routine: yoga practice, cooking, journaling, talking to my mum over the phone, meeting up with my buddies, gratitude list, travelling, sleeping 😀 And the list goes on!
  • We are all the same but DIFFERENT! What works for me might not work for everyone: food, diet or work wise. We all have different backgrounds, physical and mental conditions, environments that it all vary so everyone has to find what’s the best for them!!
  • You can make the best use of this digital age (which also means you can make the worst). Many people may say there is less social interaction and find a lot of down sides to it which can be true at some point yet I personally met some of my best friends on the internet and also get so much inspiration and knowledge from it.
  • People don’t follow their own advice. Some people say it’s normal and I believe in some extent it is but I also think that if you want to inspire people to do things, the best way is to demonstrate and show it works.

  • The best thing you can do on a daily basis is to support your friends, family and people in general. Reminded by the kiwi prime ministers Jacinda Ardern when she came to visit one of the high school I am working in Christchurch.
  • Beauty is plural. Beauty is energy. Beauty is a feeling you have about someone else when they are thriving. Beauty is taking care of your physical envelope and your mental health. There is no definition to beauty. Just the one you choose to give it to.
  • Eat your fruits and veggies (organic when possible). Make sure to add them at some point to your diet. There is nothing as nutritious and more replenishing than consuming them. Consider them under their all forms and shapes and make it tasty. E.i smoothies, soups, cold-pressed juice, roasted veggies, raw etc.
  • Exercise for your health and your well-being. Think long term. It makes the difference.
  • You don’t have to justify every time you go out (or take a story) without makeup, unshaved. Your body = no rules and definitely no necessity to be consistent whatsoever.
  • It’s okay not have an opinion on everything and not to know in general. Yet keep an open mind. ‘Critical mind’ is something you learn at school. ‘Open mind’ is something you learn by yourself.
  • It’s not my responsibility to dispense advice to anyone that talks to you. You can simply listen with an open heart.
  • The 21th century is a crazy age when freedom is defined by how far you can travel from ‘home’ whereas some people would just give everything out to be reunited with their family and friends on a daily basis.
  • Advice is a form of nostalgia. Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it’s worth.– Mary Schmich, “Wear Sunscreen”
  • Some people already have done the job of putting words together so don’t be afraid to quote them when you relate to their preach. Don’t be afraid to say to others humans you like what they do as well and spread love.
Mars 2019, Christchurch, Nouvelle-ZĂ©lande
  • You can make every situation win-win. Use your brain to find how.
  • Humans are social animals. Spending time alone is good and beneficial until you feel it’s enough for now. Don’t let the anxiety stop you from going outside and meeting, sharing and bonding with other humans. They are some good people out there!
  • It’s not a shame to be on Tinder. It’s a place where you publicly admit than you are looking for some(one). It’s also your right to say you are not interested if that’s the case.
  • Contradictions are part of being human: I sometimes like to go out and dance and other nights just chilling with my better self, a book and candles.
  • Competition is not a bad thing if you think life as game. I have to get into details for this one: I honestly thought exactly the contrary not so long ago. But then, I started teaching as a French assistant in two high school in New Zealand and realised how competition was motivating, especially the youngest ones (12 years old). You might think ‘okay but they had the time to be brainwashed at this age’. Maybe. Maybe not.

  • Limiting beliefs are only: l i m i t i n g   b e l i e f s. You can overpass them. And positive affirmations are a great tool for that. Suggested mantras:

I am capable to take actions, now.

I am grateful for the present moment and I also work towards the life of my dreams.

I am worthy to live the life of my dreams and thrive.

I am inspired and inspiring.

You might want to create yours as well 🙂

  • Accept all your emotions but keep them in motion. Creating and nourishing a tool box of things that help me accept, process and understand my emotions is something I found sooooo helpful. This includes among others: yoga, breathing, massages, emotional freedom technique, scribing, cleaning (I am sure you didn’t expect this one haha but when I organise my room I clear my mind. At least that’s how it feels lol).

Well thank you so much for reading me. I really appreciate. If you can relate to one of these advice please feel free to share it in the comments. Cheers and write to you soon 🙂

Best yoga studios in Paris

Hi there,

Are looking for the best yoga studio in the city of love but don’t know where to start with? Then this article is for you 😉

To be completely honest with you before I start getting into the subject, I had an unlimited pass that allowed me to test a lot of the yoga studios in Paris. Since there are sooo many, I didn’t test them all, but I did experience a good amount of them. In this blog post, I will only share the ones I did enjoy the most. Last note with a little disclaimer, this is my based on my own experience indeed the reviews are personal 🙂

YUJ Yoga Studio

Yuj Yoga Studio 1er

My favourite. Cosy and beautiful studio. Excellent teachers. You even are served tea before and after you practice to settle down, relax, or bond with other yogis. You can rent a towel and a mat for 2 euros. Shampoo, body lotion, soap, hair band and deodorant are all furnished. However, it’s non-vegan nor natural, just as a disclaimer.

The particularity of the studio

They use infrared light that heat the room up to 25 degrees. It helps to prevent injuries, gain in flexibility and detoxify the body since you sweat quite a lot! The yoga classes are dispensed with a motivating and inspiring playlist which makes yoga more fun and more enjoyable for your friends that still believe yoga is boring.

Teachers recommendation

If you have the opportunity, go practice with Alex Avila for a dynamic and funky class (told in French and English), with Manon for a challenging yet soft class, or Carole for a soft yin class.

There are 3 YUJ yoga studios all over Paris, one in the 7th arrondissement, one in the 17th arrondissement and one in the 1st arrondissement.

Plus +

The staff is so kind and will help you to find a yoga class that is suitable for you (and I am not saying so because I worked there at the desk at some point haha while I was still in Paris). They also sell their own ethical yoga brand YUJ yoga if you want to purchase a new yoga outfit and try it you can do it before or after your yoga class.

Minus –

Probably the fact that the hair-care and beauty products they offer for you to use are neither natural nor vegan although the brand is ethical. So you might want to bring yours!

Yoga Tigre Club

Shooting in La Défense with Stéphanie

The most known, I believe. The approach of yoga is quite traditional yoga in high-end facilities. Everything is included in the price: yoga mat, towel, shampoo, conditioner, soap etc
) Great if you plan to go out just after haha!

The particularity of the studio

Yoga Tigre Club offers a variety of yoga practice, from Iyengar to Ashtanga Mysore, even Kundalini or Yoga Nidra. So if you are used to a particular style, you’ll find it for sure. Or maybe even try a new type of yoga? Up to you 😀

Teachers recommendation

I recommend Cyril for Ashtanga Mysore. Then I found Iyengar was maybe not my type so I wouldn’t recommend this class but if you are used to it, please go for it!

There are Yoga Tigre Club located all over Paris. Really. I was used to going to Yoga Tigre Club Chaillot but you might consider to go to another one.

Plus +

My favourite vegan café of all times Wild and the Moon is located in the studio. They have the best acai bowls I have ever had. They also same Lululemon yoga clothes so you can have a look at the outfits if you arrive early for a yoga class (what would probably never happen in Paris lol).

Minus –

I found that the staff wasn’t particularly welcoming, especially for my first venue. And when I was asking questions, I felt like I was bothering them. Not so friendly and talkative indeed but that’s perhaps a strategy to let silence in before the practice lol!

Chez Simone

Upside down yay!

I love this one! Not only for yoga but for the good vibes and the cosy atmosphere of this Parisian apartment. You read well it’s not a casual yoga studio but a flat where you can move, eat and nurture your happiness with high energies. They also have a burning ballet class that I deeply enjoyed and boxing and HIT if you are keen to try something different.

The particularity of the studio

The mindset. I know the co-founder, the blogger Aurelia alias @jesuisbonne and she’s all about moving and eating well, but also to be indulgent with yourself to live a fulfilled and balanced life overall. I also feel once you step in Chez Simone apartment, you’re a part of a community so it is may additionally be a good way to make some friends with common interests.

Teachers recommendation

I loved the Olivia for the burning ballet classes and also for yoga. I saw there is also candle yoga on Friday night that I would have loved to try but I ran out of time.

The “apartment” is located 226 Rue Saint-Denis.

Plus +

They have a cafĂ© inside the “apartment” and there is always something vegan on the menu! Also, all is included in the price you don’t have to worry about the mat, the towel or the beauty care (shampoo, conditioner, moisturiser) that also appeared to be ethical and cruelty-free! Yay 🙂

Minus –

Maybe the fact, that there are not that many classes. But that’s not the price to pay to keep the concept small and have a cosy and friendly atmosphere, I guess. So you just have to organize yourself accordingly and cope with it.

That’s it! I hope this article will give you some clues to find the yoga studio that suits you. If you to step in one of these please let me know 🙂

With my yoga teacher friend Manon 🙂

Learn French with mindful videos

Dear, you,

I see you.
You want to learn French.
You don’t know where to start.
Well, you are reading this article which is a great first step.
French is a complex language, but you can do it.
Try to have fun in the process thought.

What if you tried another way to learn a language? Thanks to Youtube videos for instance

In this article, I will introduce you to 5 French mindful YouTubers that have not only a great pronunciation but that also share such interesting and uplifting content around personal development, online business, travels, spirituality and healthy lifestyle in general.

Heloise Monchablon – Easy Blush

I was lucky enough to meet Heloise twice and can tell her good vibes online and in real life. She is so beautiful inside and out. Her content is various. It goes from personal development to natural and organic makeup, as long with recipes and life experiences
lifestyle in a world 😉
What I also appreciate is that she produces slow content. What I mean is that the anything she creates is powered by her heart and not by pressure or obligation. You can feel it.

It goes without saying that the tone of her voice (so much serenity) and pronunciation will make it easy for you if you have an intermediary or advanced level. If you are just starting to learn French, – I think that if you share the area of interest, which includes spirituality, travels and a healthy lifestyle in general -, it might be worth the challenge. You might not understand everything in the first video but I’m pretty sure it will get better over the weeks.

Emilio Abril

Are you keen on online business, digital nomads life or/and you want to become an entrepreneur? Then’s Emilio Abril’s videos are for you. He has got 3 Youtube channel:

  • Vert Feuille: talks about healthy food habits and food you should eat to optimise your health. Emilio is vegan.
  • Emilio Abril: is about diverse topics such as personal development, online business, super humans (a concept initiated by himself which consists of optimising humans performance with habits and consistency) and overall how to become the best version of yourself.
  • Biziness Hacker is focused on entrepreneur life. Emilio gives lots of advice on online business and how to become a digital nomad.

Same as for Heloise, he’s French is very clear and his pronunciation amazing. The vocabulary used is simple and he goes straight to the point. He uses some slang words sometimes. Thus, it gives you an overview of the way the youth speak in French-speaking countries.

Emilie Anne

Do you fancy travel diaries and personal development? Then Emilie Anne‘s channel is for you! It contains so much inspiration and shows you that you don’t have to fit in a box to bloom and expand. That you can change your mind, your job, your location
and start all over again anytime! The motto of Emilie Anne’s ‘Time to bloom‘ and she certainly encourages you to become the best version of yourself. She even has a whole playlist dedicated to it.

Besides the positive vibes Emilie’s (Anne is actually her second name) she shares along with her videos, her French is very clear and dynamic. She might speak a bit faster than the other Youtubers presented in this blog post yet that’s a great training if you want to experience how French people talk in real life (as they speak quite fast in general.) Listen, listen and you will end up by understanding 🙂

Ferdinand Richter

Want free coaching to turn your dreams into reality? Well, Ferdinand Richter is here to provide you advice to live a better life. He’s a certified coach and he bases his method on understand human’s cycles just like the the nature. Check him out he speaks relatively slow and his content is so valuable.

Melodie – The Green Harmonia

And to finish with…why not following my Youtube channel hahaha? To be very honest, oral speaking was not my strength a couple of year back. I used to mumble and not finish my sentences. I have improved so much over the time. And I am sure YouTube helped a lot because I was able to hear me and realise that sometimes I struggled to understand myself and hence why I put a lot of attention to speak clearly. If you still want to hear me and be accountable for my progress, feel free to check out my latest video about my trip to Brazil:

Well, that’s it! Thank you so much for reading me and I really hope this blog post will help you to learn French and become more mindful at the same time 😉 Sounds great isn’t it? So #letssartfrench with #thegreenharmonia

Namastey dears,

What to do in Paris during the summer for free

After 3 years living in Paris as a student, I discovered plenty of activities that you can do for free in Paris and that roll over each year. Not only are they cost less but they happen to be my favourite animations.

Hope you find a glimpse of magic and that you’ll be experiencing one of them this summer or the next summer as they are reconducted over the years.

Rosemary Dream: Empowerment Center in Brazil

Hi there,

From now on, I’m going to write every second article in English as I love to connect with people from all over the world and I am aware automatic Google Translation (French to English) is not that good haha.

Today I want to talk you about my experience in an Empowerment Center in Brazil called Rosemary Dream where I stayed in January this year for a weak. Continuer Ă  lire … « Rosemary Dream: Empowerment Center in Brazil »
